Creative form is constrained by where it is delivered
Answers Modality · Epistemology · Semantics
A creative size specification states an aspect ratio and size range that a Surface supports; it is a constraint on delivery, not a property the creative owns. A creative Format states which Surfaces can carry it at all, which is the same constraint read at the coarser grain: geometry decides whether a screen will take a shape, form decides whether a place can carry the thing at all.
What goes wrong without it
A size is a property of a placement, not of a picture. Recorded on the asset it makes a creative look as though it has an intrinsic shape, and the constraint it was actually meeting — what a given surface supports — goes unrecorded. Stated against the surface, one asset can be delivered anywhere that supports it.
What proves it — 1
Each is a gate the build runs: a check inside a ring, a whole ring, or an eval beside them. A build stops at the first that refuses.

Where this model stands
Geometry is asserted against the surfaces that support it, so a size is never read as a fact about a creative asset.
Form is asserted against the surfaces that can carry it, so the constraint the rule is named for now holds on both axes rather than only on geometry.
Ten of the fifteen surfaces have no screen geometry, and a brochure, a radio spot and a branded object are each still constrained by where they go. Form is the axis that reaches them.
What it does not claim
No IAB ad-unit identifiers are persisted; the local size vocabulary is mapped to no external identifier until a real delivery source requires interoperability.
